Matt Harvey is Brooklyn-based cinematographer and producer.
Matt studied film at Wesleyan University and lighting and related disciplines at ICP and SVA. He got his start making dance films with choreographer Anneke Hansen and interview-based work with fellows of the Barnard Center for Research on Women. Since then, his primary pursuit has been narrative film. His work has premiered at Slamdance, the Dallas International Film Festival, and Fantaspoa; been featured on MTV; and is in the collections of MoMA, Tate Modern, The Whitney, and the Brooklyn Museum.
Matt is also head of development for Santa Rita Film Co., producing projects including ANGELS IN EAST TEXAS, the next feature from John Krokidas, and a horror picture from Owen Egerton based on the true story of an underwater clown.
Previously, Matt spent a decade in acquisitions and production at Sony Pictures Classics, where he acted as the company’s liaison to productions such as Rachel Getting Married, Friends with Money and Best Documentary Oscar-winner Inside Job. Matt was involved in acquiring some of the best independent and foreign films of the 2000s, such as Whiplash, Amour, An Education, Midnight in Paris, and Call Me by Your Name.
